Lovebirds are one of the few parrots who seek out nesting material and carry it to their nests. They can be prolific breeders and are therefore a bird of choice for beginners who are interested in breeding parrots.

They can live for up to 12 years of age.

Incubation is 21 - 23 days, with eggs laid every other day
